Liberty High School's Department of Classical Studies is pleased to stand at the forefront of the modern classical eduaction movement. We boast a full-time faculty of four as well as seven adjunct instructors, who offer the largest and most diverse slate of classical courses of any public school in the Western United States.

All Liberty freshmen begin their classical education with Introduction to Classical Studies, a mandatory yearlong course which emphasizes study skills and a basic familiarity with classical civilizations and their lasting legacy. Department offerings also include a full battery of Latin courses, from basic to Advanced Placement, Mythology, Philosophy, Classical Logic and Rhetoric, Advanced Placement Art History, and Forensics, as well as Classical Studies II, which continues the study of classical cilvilizations and their modern legacy. This year, we are also pleased to offer our first Topics in Classical Civilization course, an indepth study of the history of piracy.

The Department of Classical Studies believes that students' acquaintance with the classics does not stop outside the classroom, and our instructors are proud to sponsor the Liberty chapters of the Junior Classical League, the National Forensics League, and Key Club International, as well as the Liberty Environmental Awareness Club, the Liberty Multicultural Club, Varsity Quiz, Freshman Student Council, and our award-winning Latin Certamen Teams. All Latin students at Liberty High School take the National Latin Examination, and each spring many of our students also take the Medusa Mythology Examination. Our department is proud to be the cornerstone of this, our Classical School.
