Dear Patriot Family,
On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff of Liberty High School it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2017-18 year here at Liberty! We have been quite busy this summer getting staff hired and the building prepared for another terrific year. Before we kick-off the 2017-18 year we want to take some time to recap the last school year and all that the students at Liberty accomplished.
Our AP (Advanced Placement) scores were amongst the best in the Clark County School District. So you are aware, students taking AP classes are better prepared for college and post-secondary coursework. Rigorous content and instruction prepare students, as early as their sophomore year, for the challenges of college and/or university studies. I strongly encourage you to discuss taking AP classes with your student, and I am available to you throughout the year to map out potential AP classes for your son or daughter to take in addition to discussing the wonderful opportunities that exist when a student elects to take an AP-Level class. I am so proud to inform you that no less than 90% of our seniors in the Class of 2017 graduated with us in June, a mark few high schools can match. Finally, Liberty High School claimed numerous division titles in various sports, including a state title in women's bowling, a state championship game appearance by our football team, and girls' basketball advancing to the state semifinals. Additionally, our award-winning performing arts programs (theater, band, choir, and orchestra) continue to score Superior ratings at competitions across CCSD.
As you can see, Liberty High School is a terrific school both in and out of the classroom! I am so proud of our students and very humbled to be your principal. Know that my door is always open to you and your family and I am here to assist you in any way that I can be of service. I hope to see you this year at one of our many school functions. Please feel free to stop me and say hello. I also hope to see you at our Open House on Tuesday, September 19th at 6 pm.
What follows are a few quick bullets that may be useful to you and your student as we move closer to the start of the school year.
Dress Code: Liberty High School follows the CCSD dress code and information on the dress code will be made available to all students on the first day of school. Dress code information is also available for you to view now on Dean's Corner webpage.
Transpiration Notice: District postcards will be mailed in August with accurate times and locations for bus pick up. Please keep in mind that you might not receive this information until the week right before school starts. First Day of School: On the first day of school, students will report to an alpha homeroom by 7:00 a.m. to check in and receive their schedules, class expectations, and information concerning important activities and dates. The alpha homeroom locations will be posted throughout the school. Students will follow an altered bell schedule on this day. All eight classes will be held and school will end at 1:16 p.m. Parent information packets will be given to each student in their homeroom classes on the first day of school. Please review all contents of this packet and return all required documents in the provided envelope as soon as possible.
Parent volunteers: Parents who are interested in volunteering their time and talents should contact the main office at 702-799-2270, ext. 4100. There will also be a parent volunteer form in our first day packets. We always encourage parents and students to play an active role in the education process. Again, please carefully review with your student this packet of information. If you have any questions, call the main office for further assistance. We look forward to working with you and enjoying a highly successful year at Liberty High School.
